Alternate Landing Site Information

Lake Winnebago is known to be a very rough and treacherous lake at times. When the winds blow from the North or East, this lake can become too rough for safe and prudent flying operations. As a precaution, we have established an alternate landing site for your use.

This site is located 2.88 statute miles south of the Seaplane Base near the west shore of Lake Winnebago. We have several mooring buoys with aircraft bridles located on the leeward side of "War Bird Island". To find the BIG Island, take a heading of 150 degrees from the seaplane base and proceed 2.88 miles along the west shoreline. Coordinates for the island are: (N 43 54.540' W088 27.830'). Please monitor OSH ATIS for advisory information on 125.9. Contact the Seaplane Base on 123.3 prior to landing for transportation from the island to the seaplane base. If you wait until after you have landed, you will not be able to contact the base for transportation.

After landing, please be patient for your transportation. Our transport boat has to drive in very rough water to your location. You will then be transported to the nearest shore, for surface transportation to the seaplane base.
